Medolac Laboratories’ dedication to ongoing research in the area of human breast milk sets us apart.  Milk banking should be guided by evidence-based practices founded upon disciplined research and rigorous scientific methods. Unfortunately, many current milk banking practices lack these science-based insights.  We are committed to finding ways to improve supply and clinical care including novel milk banking models.

Priority research will address the following areas

• Continued research to test the clinical benefits of human milk products in neonatal care through outcomes.
  
  
• Advances in milk banking quality and safety.
  
  
• Focus on the care of donors and their babies.
  
  
• Physiological factors that influence milk supply in an effort to understand and create interventions for new mothers who struggle to produce milk.
  
  
• Development of new human milk based applications and products.

Donor health and safety and the safe processing, handling and storage of donor milk are focus areas in our research agenda as well.  We seek to partner with other institutions to pursue research in our focus areas. Partners are expected to align with our commitment to responsible practices, including the desire to preserve optimal, exclusive breastfeeding at all times.
